The Canadian Band Association acknowledges that our offices, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, are gathered on Treaty 1 Territory and that Manitoba is located on the Treaty Territories and ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations.
We respect the spirit and intent of Treaties and Treaty Making and remain committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in the spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.
We do this by identifying, understanding, and centering our personal and musical experiences with the land, water, living creatures, culture, and people.
While we do our part in growing, evaluating, and sharing in the responsibility to improve our relationships, we are committed to nurturing a safe space that supports Indigenous voices where they can be heard, acknowledged, and able to freely act without external constraint.
We are grateful to continue this journey and encourage each other to reflect and share the stories of the land, to learn more about its traditional caretakers, and to concurrently give greetings and respect to all aspects of cultural customs, identities, and creation.
