Glenn Gillis is the director of the concert band, several saxophone ensembles, and teaches Applied Saxophone and Music Education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He is a Conn/Selmer artist who maintains an active performance schedule, including serving as an artist in residence at the Banff Centre.  He is an educator and a scholar as well as a performer.  Dr. Gillis' full biography is available here.

 

Dark and moving, Glenn Gillis' Aria for Winds is a very sophisticated selection despite being technically easy.  It features a prominent piano part and alto sax line woven beautifully into the soaring band parts.

Glenn Gillis est chef d’orchestre d’harmonie, dirige plusieurs ensembles de saxophone, et enseigne des cours de saxophone et d’éducation musicale à l’université de la Saskatchewan à Saskatoon. Il est artiste Conn/Selmer et maintient un horaire chargé de performances; il est aussi artiste en résidence au centre Banff. Il est éducateur, artiste et académique. Sombre et touchante, Aria for Winds est une sélection sophistiquée, malgré sa simplicité technique. Cette pièce met en vedette une partition de piano assez importante et une mélodie au saxophone alto qui se tisse de toute beauté avec les autres parties de l’harmonie.
